The location is outstanding, and the surroundings a real treat! The refurbished hotel building is also excellently maintained, and gives a true reflection of its history. Liked it very much.
The room could not be made completely dark, and this was a very big problem considering White Nights. The restaurant also apparently lacked English menu's on the first night (only in Norwegian), but surprisingly had them available on our second night.

The charming exterior and interior
The room was very small. For such a price one would expect a more spacious room. During our stay there were works in progress in the hotel (painting) that caused inconvinience

Our family had such a wonderful time at this enchanting place! The fine nature surrounding the hotel made for a perfect family escape. Our days were filled with joy as we sailed the Telemark Canal. The staff warmly welcomed us, even accommodating our special needs son's autism support dog.
In my wife's opinion, more kid-friendly activities would be great.

The room was unbearably cramped for the price we paid, and it was far too hot without any fans provided. Dinner service felt rushed, and the waiters seemed inexperienced, further adding to our frustration since the dress code was not adhered to by other guests.

The ambiance at Dalen Hotel is enchanting. The staff is dedicated and friendly, ensuring a welcoming experience. The Afternoon Tea lacked quality cutlery and the setup needed improvement, which slightly marred the experience. The food was enjoyable but could be more generous with portions.
